Frequently asked questions
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or have a nagging feeling that something isn't quite right, therapy may be beneficial. You don't need to be in crisis to gain from counselling. Many seek therapy to better understand themselves, navigate a tough phase, or have a private space of their own. If you're uncertain, the free 20-minute consultation is a helpful starting point — with no obligation or pressure involved.
What happens in a first session?
The initial session provides an opportunity for us to meet, understand what led you to therapy, and determine if we're a good match. I will inquire about your experiences and goals for therapy. Feel free to ask me questions as well. The first session is exploratory and doesn't guarantee ongoing commitment.
How long does therapy last?
Your experience varies depending on what you seek. Some clients find six to twelve sessions helpful for specific issues, while others prefer ongoing, in-depth work over a longer period, providing continuous support during long-term changes. We will regularly review your progress, and I'll work with you collaboratively and relationally, focusing on your goals and supporting your autonomy and readiness to explore as deeply as you wish. You have the final say on when to pause or stop—there’s no required minimum commitment.
What's the difference between counselling and hypnotherapy?
Counselling is a talking therapy that examines your thoughts, feelings, patterns, and experiences through conversation. It is generally more open-ended and reflective. Solution-Focused Clinical Hypnotherapy combines talk therapy with guided trance work to address specific “symptomatic” issues such as anxiety, insomnia, habits, or phobias. It tends to be more structured and goal-oriented, usually lasting six to twelve sessions.
Some clients choose either counselling or hypnotherapy, while others benefit from both. We can discuss which approach might suit you best during your consultation. I often use the analogy that some individuals prefer to focus all their energy on moving “forward” without looking back. In contrast, others need reassurance about their past before making changes in the way they want.

Do you offer reduced rates or a sliding scale?

Where are you based, and do you offer online sessions?
I offer in-person sessions in Shoreditch E2, East London. I also offer online sessions via Zoom for clients across the UK. Both formats are equally effective, and the right choice depends on your preference and circumstances.
How do I book?
You can book a free 20-minute initial consultation using the contact form on this website. I'll be in touch within 24-48 hours to arrange a time. From there, if we decide to work together, we'll agree on a regular session time.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
I request at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice may be billed at the full session rate. I recognise that emergencies happen and will do my best to be flexible - I kindly ask for the same consideration.
Is everything confidential?
Yes. Everything you share during our sessions is confidential. There are a few legal and ethical exceptions - for instance, if I have serious concerns about your safety or that of others. However, I would typically discuss this with you beforehand whenever possible. The details about confidentiality and its limits will be thoroughly explained in your first session.
Are you insured and registered?
Yes. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), membership number 414184. I hold full professional indemnity insurance. As a Solution-Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist, I am also a member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH).
